Company Bio

Phillip A. Morris, President & CEO "Holmes Foods, Inc. has been in business for over seventy-five (75) years.  It started as ice plant in 1925 and, then, developed into a processor of turkeys, heavy hens, broilers and even duck.  Holmes Foods, today, is a total vertically integrated poultry company.  We merged three (3) divisions:  hatchery, feed mill and processing plant into one company in November of 2000.  We are very grateful to our current owners:  S. R. (Pal) Lester, Tom Lester, Sr. and Ricky Lester for providing over 300 jobs that support all of our families.  We are especially thankful to all our employees that are dedicated to working very hard at producing the finest, safest poultry products in the world.  Thank you for visiting our website and welcome to Holmes Foods.
Welcome to Holmes Foods Holmes Foods, Inc. is a fully integrated poultry processing complex that includes a processing facility, a hatchery, a feed mill, twelve (12) pullet houses, twelve (12) breeder farms with forty (40) houses, thirty-five (35) broiler farms with one hundred seventy-nine (179) houses, and a hay and cattle farm.  Holmes is family owned by three gentlemen from Gonzales, Texas:

Yesterday Holmes Foods was established in 1925 as an ice packaging plant.  In the 30's, 40's and 50's the plant processed many types of poultry and was processing 1,500 to 2,500 turkeys per day.  In the late 40's the plant began processing chicken and is currently running in the neighborhood of 140,000 chickens per day on a single shift operation.  Our processing facility is 75 thousand square foot with one picking line, two evisceration lines and one drip line.  While some of the original building built in the 20's and 30's is still being used for processing, when all expansion construction is finished, more than three quarters of the facility will be new.
Today Holmes Foods has averaged better than an eight percent (8%) increase every year for the past ten (10) years in total head processed.  We, now, process over 32 million head of poultry annually.  Our customers range from food service distributorships that repackage and further process our product to fast-food chains.  We offer a variety of different styled cuts and marinated products to our customers, priding ourselves on customizing our product to any customer specifications.  Through the help of our industry partners and the state-of-the-art technology they provide, we are able to optimize efficiency while still creating a safe, custom package for each of our customers.
Tomorrow Current additions to the complex list from a new truck shop, live haul storage, employee break room, and scales at both the plant and feed mill to new expansions at the hatchery and new atmospheric controlled, tunnel ventilated broiler & breeder houses.  Holmes Foods broilers and breeders are raised by independent, contract growers and are 100% atmospherically controlled and tunnel ventilated, allowing for optimal performance in all weather conditions.  Our current multi-million dollar expansion project to the processing plant has increased production efficiency and product flow exponentially while decreasing utility costs.  The addition of more than 50,000 square feet of production floor and cooler space, another drip line and six (6) shipping bays has minimized both employee and commercial traffic and increased productivity.  The new corporate offices are located on the second level.  This project has added many amenities, such as high speed automatic vapor-lock cooler and freezer doors, auto leveling bay doors, elevator access and more.  Not to mention these changes have, also, create more jobs for our community.
